Counting down
At last! We've already finished our General Practice of the JS PROM & it will be held tomorrow (fri. Feb 20) at Holiday Inn Hotel. Yesterday, was a bit of tiring because of non-stop rehearsals. Anyway, I hope our prom will be an enormous success.

For the preparation of the prom, I'll wear a black Americana, purple long sleeves, black and purplish pink necktie, black shoes with a semi-point tip and a light blue contact lenses.

I actually don't wear my light blue contact lenses. Because the color and ambiance of it, is kind of elegant and special. It was given to me by Mark (classmate) in our Christmas' exchange of gifts.

Anyway, I bought a new Americana cos' my parents want me to and it costs 850 riyals. Though I can use again what I wore last prom. The neck tie costs 63 riyals and the shoes was 275 I think.

Apologies for not updating my blog lately cos' nowadays, we've been practicing our JS PROM and finishing our "Last Will". Anyway, I've made my new multiply (click here!). Don't forget to put up some comments! =]

Friday the 13th: is it Real?
Another Friday the 13th came! Many superstition beliefs that this day is a bad luck for all of us.But the really strange thing is that most of the people who believe the day is unlucky offer no explanation at all, logical or illogical. As with most superstitions, people fear Friday the 13th for its own sake, without any need for background information.

The fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskavedekatriaphobia, a word derived from the concatenation of the Greek words Paraskeví (Παρασκευή) (meaning Friday), and dekatreís (δεκατρείς) (meaning thirteen), attached to phobía (φοβία) (meaning fear). This is a specialized form of triskaidekaphobia, a simple phobia (fear) of the number thirteen, and is also known as friggatriskaidekaphobia. The term triskaidekaphobia was derived in 1911 and first appeared in a mainstream source in 1953.

The fear of Friday the 13th stems from two separate fears -- the fear of the number 13 and the fear of Fridays. Both fears have deep roots in Western culture, most notably in Christian theology.

Thirteen is significant to Christians because it is the number of people who were present at the Last Supper (Jesus and his 12 apostles). Judas, the apostle who betrayed Jesus, was the 13th member of the party to arrive.

According to folklorists, there is no written evidence for a "Friday the 13th" superstition before the 19th century.[4][5][6] The earliest known documented reference in English occurs in an 1869 biography of Gioachino Rossini:
[Rossini] was surrounded to the last by admiring and affectionate friends; and if it be true that, like so many other Italians, he regarded Friday as an unlucky day, and thirteen as an unlucky number, it is remarkable that on Friday, the 13th of November, he died.

However, some folklore is passed on through oral traditions. In addition, "determining the origins of superstitions is an inexact science, at best. In fact, it's mostly guesswork." Consequently, several theories have been proposed about the origin of the Friday the 13th superstition.

Cinnamon Mary Jane
Cinnamon Mary Jane (CMJ) is the title of the song that aldrine, popularly known in youtube as ukuleleoversoul, composed. He's purely Filipino and was born in Caloocan City, Philippines but currently resides in Hawaii.

I found the link (click here!) when my classmate and co-blogger (kevin) shared it in his status in ym. I clicked it and when I waited to finish the buffer, I listened to his composition (CMJ) and I was totally amazed!

It's difficult for me to fall in love with a song in just a sec. But undeniably, I do fell in love with the song and how he play and tap the guitar. The tapping/chunk really do adds passion in it.

CAT's hell month
The CAT's Hell Month is an annual tradition of the CAT Organization in where the trainees or the so called "dumbguards" have to wear different costumes in one month (February) and they have to follow orders from the CAT Officers like counting the tiles on the building etc.

The first day was kind of boring because it's also a tradition that the first day of Hell Month, the dumbguards should wear completed school uniform while the rest of the students are wearing civilian.

Then the second day, which was undoubtedly hilarious, the Alpha Company (boys) wore a gayish outfit and for the Bravo Company (girls) wore a terrorist outfit. The amazing part is, some of the Alpha were wearing HIGH HILLS!

The MEDEA Tanghalang Pilipino (where I was also a member) held a get-together-party for the success of their previous plays and at the same time pictorial for our banner. We have 3 plays, "Ang Bagong Papa ni Mommy" (directed by Romeo Tampol), "Ang Bastos" (directed by Dennis Obsipo) & "Gabun" (directed by Dennis Obsipo).

The First one is a full-comedy play, where I play the role of Paeng. The second is a semi-comedy which have a setting of a early times and the third one is a full-drama play.

sandy, stormy day
This day (Wednesday, february 11, 2009) was one of the most memorable day ever in my life. Actually it was my very first time to witness a sandiest sandstorm in our school! At first (about 8 or 9 a), the sky were orange colored. We didn’t think that it would be a sandstorm. When were in the midst of the practice for JS PROM, the sand began to scatter and the surrounding became blurry, sandy & windy.

I was wearing contact lenses that time and I’m frightened that my eyes will get itch. And as what I just expected, my eyes became itchy and took it off for my own safety.

Our class adviser gave us gasmasks and took pictures! haha.

See! the surroundings is kinda creepy. Because I imagine ZOMBIES there walking toward us! and we have shotguns to terminate them! haha.

Then, the school principal told us that we can go home. At last! I can sleep for a long hour. haha Because I usually sleep in our Economics subject time. haha

misty grey & turquoise

It really brightened my day, when debok gave me the contact lenses I ordered. It was misty grey and turquoise. Both for SR 100 and amazingly, she told me that it’s for 6 months to 1 year. I was like whooah! It’s for a long term use for just SR 100?!

I have here the pictures of the contact lenses I ordered.

Originally, I ordered three misty grey, turquoise and amethyst. But sadly, the amethyst is worth SR 100 per pair. I was kind of thwarted with that but anyway, I can purchase that in the Philippines and I expect it’s cheaper than here.

I just want to share with you that I already have 8 contact lenses (2 true sapphires, 1 brown, 1 green, 2 greys, 1 light blue and 1 turquoise) but some of it were already broken.

Exam's done!

Yahoo! Exam's done! After 3 consecutive days of reviewing different formulas, terms and concepts we're now temporarily free. Because we still have achievement tests and quarterly tests. But nothing to worry about right now except our annual JS PROM. Teachers gave me a part in the "Last Will of Testament" (I don't know if it's the right term) together with paul, eajay, Johanna, Jessica, ton & desiree. It's about two weeks left to finish that and yet was not done with it. Sadly to say, it's our last prom because we are about to graduate in the High school level.

As we all know, High school years made our individual personalities develop and distinguish what our weaknesses are. We've been through lots as in lots of life's obstacles that made us a stronger person to conquer every life's trials. And of course, we've also experienced some unforgettable moments with our friends, family and loved ones that undoubtedly helped us to survive and pass through the rough roads were trudging to.

Proudly to say, without the people who made fun of me when I was weak and nothing can do but to cry and pity myself of being underestimated by the people around me, I will not be a strong and better person inside and outside.

I think it's the way of God for my own sake and betterment.

Anyway, enough the drama! When our teachers gave us our test's results I was happy because at least I saved my mastery for having passing grades in all of it. But sadly, there are still lots of lessons to take up. Anyway, we only have weeks and were going back to our own mother country to acquire the next step, the college level. I know I have to change myself because I'm kind of lazy some times.

wait for more entries! -nathan

an artwork
Our English teacher told us to make a thesis, I chose thesis about Fashion and was titled "Fashion World".

Later that night, I decided to make a banner for my thesis.

I opened photoshop cs3 extended and made a new 2000x394 pixels. I downloaded some brushes, gradients and of course a female model. I painted my canvas a black color then I cut the model and put it in my canvas. After, I used my downloaded brush painted in the left corner and used the downloaded gradient. With my plaguedeath font, I typed fashion world and made a reflection by duplicating the font layer, rasterizing it, flipping it vertically, adjusted the opacity and erased the bottom part by the smooth eraser.

Here it is!

It's simple but it's indeed elegant.

yellowish (late post)
I think it was like a month ago when our Guidance Counselor gave us the USTET Results (yeah i know it's kind of late). We were all nervous and excited of what our results are, passed or failed. It was our break time, bought my snack, came back to our classroom and someone announced that our Guidance Counselor have in her hands our USTET Results. At first, I'm not kind of interested to know if I passed or not. Because i expect that I'll fail this test. But I said to my self "Whatever happens, passed or not, you should be strong. God have a better plan for you."

The Guidance Counselor called my name and gave me the letter/result from UST. I went away from my classmates, opened it. And it was "did not qualify", both. I'm like, disappointed. At first, I didn't know what "did not qualify" means. But, as soon I opened the whole letter, I saw 2 statements at the bottom.

"ACADEMIC PLACEMENT
Report to OFAD on any of the following days for the print-out of the program/s where your scores qualify: March 7 to March 14 2009"

"Your score qualifies you also to enroll at the COLLEGIO DE SAN JUAN DE LETRAN."

I was like, hell no! I asked our Guidance Counselor what that means. And she said, I PASSED! but my score didn't qualify to enroll at Nursing and Comm Arts. At least! I passed.

My parents are both happy at what I've told them. Later that night, my classmate gave us the link for the courses we passed at http://myuste.ust.edu.ph:8888/admission/results.jsp

My New Addiction: "Heroes"

It's actually my classmate named "daniel" who introduced to me the TV Series "Heroes". At first I tried to watch it and didn't quite satisfied me. But at the second time I tried, I'm sluggishly loving it! Every episode is giving me the chill and excitement of what will happen to them especially how they use and control their powers.

Heroes is a serial saga about people all over the world discovering that they have superpowers and trying to deal with how this change affects their lives.

I have here some of the characters in the said TV Series.

Claire Bennet
Ability: Rapid Cellular Regeneration

Hiro Nakamura
Ability: Manipulating the Space-Time Continuum

Nathan Petrelli
Ability: Flight

Peter Petrelli
Ability: Mimicry

Monica Dawson
Ability: Adoptive Muscle Memory
